시제와 상

시제: 현재형(present), 과거형(past), 미래형(future)

상: 진행상(progressive: be+-ing), 완료상(perfect: have+ -en)

시제와 상이 결합하면 12가지 형태의 시제형태를 보인다.

(1) 단순현재(simple present)

The sun rises in the east.

(2) 단순 과거(simple past)

He was born in 1990.

(3) 단순미래(simple future)

John will leave tomorrow.

(4) 현재진행(present progressive)

He is studying in the library.

(5) 과거진행(past progressive)

She was watching TV all the evening.

(6) 미래진행(future progressive)

I wonder what he will be doing this time tomorrow.

(7) 현재완료(present perfect)

We have lived in Wonju since we were little children.

(8) 과거완료(past perfect)

I had just finished dinner when my brother came in.

(9) 미래완료(future perfect)

I will have finished my homework by tomorrow.

(10) 현재완료진행(present perfect progressive)

She has been living in Wonju for over three years.

(11) 과거완료진행(past perfect progressive)

She had been waiting to see you when I came home.

(12) 미래완료진행(future perfect progressive)

It will have been raining for a week by tomorrow, if raining continues.
